Realizing autonomous driving for micromobility with a new idea of outsourcing autonomous driving functions
In modern society, there is a demand to realize a carbon-free society and solve the problem of last-mile transportation, and the importance of micromobility is increasing. However, because micromobility is small, blind spots are likely to occur, making it difficult to ensure safety. In addition, there are concerns that the installation of many sensors will increase costs and hinder widespread use. To solve these issues, we adopted a new approach in which sensors and autonomous driving functions are installed on the infrastructure side and data is integrated and analyzed in real time.
In this research, we aim to minimize communication and processing delays toward practical application and develop technology that allows vehicles to travel in the same environment as sidewalk pedestrians.
